About Bookends

The upcoming film Bookends is a heartfelt dramedy directed by Mike Doyle and written by Noam Ash, who also stars in the lead role. The story follows Nate, an enthusiastic millennial novelist who, after a painful breakup, moves in with his grandparents in a retirement community. As Nate adjusts to his new environment, he confronts his grandfather Saul’s early signs of dementia and his grandmother Miriam’s denial of the situation. Amid these challenges, Nate forms an unexpected romantic connection with his grandparents’ doctor.

The film features a notable cast, including:

  • F. Murray Abraham as Saul, Nate’s Holocaust-surviving grandfather
  • Caroline Aaron as Miriam, Nate’s grandmother
  • Noam Ash as Nate, the protagonist
  • Charlie Barnett as the doctor and Nate’s love interest

Bookends draws inspiration from Ash’s personal experiences living with his grandparents and delves into themes of generational bonds, aging, and self-discovery. The film is produced by 5X Media, marking their debut feature, with producers including Scott Einbinder and Alon Shtruzman.
